This Broadkill Beach vacationing family, ranging from a teenager to a brand-new baby(4 weeks), let me introduce you to this sweet family who proved it can be done—and done beautifully. If you’ve ever wondered whether it’s possible to coordinate outfits for a photo session with six kids (yes, six!) and four adults with ease, the answer is a big yes!

When grandparents are involved, the whole experience feels extra special. These grandparents not only joined in on the fun, but they also chose their outfits to coordinate seamlessly with the family. It made the portraits look timeless and cohesive without feeling “too matchy-matchy.” When you book a session with me, I provide wardrobe tips and tricks so the entire family can feel confident before stepping in front of my camera. From color palettes that flatter everyone to outfit suggestions that make sure you can move, chase little ones, and snuggle a baby, I’ve got you covered.

Family beach sessions begin with “prompted portraits.” Some people might think of them as “posed” photos, but my goal is to guide you into natural interactions that feel comfortable and genuine. This ensures we capture the traditional smiling-at-the-camera portraits that grandparents love (and that look amazing framed in the living room). I have one rule for a session and it is, "You can't do anything wrong." There is lots of talk, "I look awkward in photos." and my belief is that you are trying to meet an expectation. If you are being yourself you can't look awkward. Will you get an awkward photo, perhaps, however, you will also have plenty of photos that you will feel great in.

Recently, I bride talked to me about her engagement photos and how some of the photos her arm looked awkward. I can see what she sees, and also these were the first few photos and she was holding her dogs collar. We looked through the gallery together and realized these two things (first photos and holding the dog) were part of getting comfortable in front of the camera. We scrolled through the photos and realized that the photos got better and better as the session went on. This bride also mentioned that their house had flooded that day and they were trying not to think about it. We both agreed that they did in fact get comfortable and she ended up with great photos! And all of her bridal portraits were amazing!

There are no strict rules for your kids! I promise I can handle anything that they throw at me, literally sand, balls, sticks, leaves, I will be just fine! And honestly that is what I want. Kids that are comfortable and ready to be themselves!
